Kybella Information & Instructions
What is Kybella®?
Kybella® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that reduces submental fat — commonly known as a “double chin.” Its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath the chin (or other small body areas off-label), Kybella destroys fat cells permanently, which are then naturally eliminated by the body over time.
Treatment Areas:
- Under the chin (submental area) – FDA-approved
- Off-label areas: jowls, bra fat, inner thighs, lower buttocks (consult with provider)
What to Expect:
- The number of treatments varies, but most patients need 2–4 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
- Swelling is expected and may be significant in the first few days.
- Gradual fat reduction will occur over 4–6 weeks as the body metabolizes the destroyed fat cells.
- Final results can be seen after the full series is complete.
